Respect
The bow on stepping onto the mat is not decoration: it is rule number one.
Tatame Kids
Two Judo classes by age — 6 to 9 and 10 to 13 — and one Karate class, in the late afternoon and on Saturday mornings. Their own belts, a grading twice a year and a coach who knows every name.
Why martial arts
Falling and getting up, bowing before and after, waiting your turn. A Judo or Karate session is an hour of clear rules with the body in motion — and that is what parents tell us they notice at home.
The bow on stepping onto the mat is not decoration: it is rule number one.
Learning to fall without getting hurt and to stop when a partner taps — before learning to attack.
A new belt every six months is a goal you can see and measure.
Balance, coordination and strength, in an hour when nobody is looking at a screen.
